Age Policy

Movies can open our childrenā€™s eyes to new places, cultures and ideas, and parents haveĀ an important role in ensuring that experience is positive and enriching. They need theĀ tools to decide what movies are suitable for their children to watch. From understandingĀ how movie ratings work and have evolved with the times to helping parents find moviesĀ appropriate for their kids, we want to help make movieĀgoing a positive experience in yourĀ familyā€™s life. These ratings provide parents with advance information about the content ofĀ movies to help them determine whatā€™s appropriate for their children. Ratings are assignedĀ by a board of parents who consider factors such as violence, sex, language and drug useĀ and then assign a rating they believe the majority of American parents would give aĀ movie.
